Staff Training and Technical Assistance

Training Services For School Staff
Training may include the following:
- Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD.)
- Topics focusing on communication disorders, such as
- Behavior as communication.
- Social-cognition.
- Communication and social skills.
- Functional communication assessment.
- Education strategies for teaching students with ASD.
- Writing social stories.
- Supporting sensory issues.
- Eligibility components.
Technical Assistance to Staff
Technical assistance may include the following:
- Assistance with the evaluation process.
- Participation in the development of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Plan (IEP), which may include consultation with the team prior to the meeting or attendance at the meeting.
- Assistance in implementing the IEP/IFSP goals and objectives.
- Demonstrations with students.
- Functional behavior assessments.
- Facilitation of social skills groups.
- Problem solving.
- Selection of appropriate strategies to meet goals and objectives.
- Development of individualized materials.
- Adaptation and modification of curriculum to meet the learning style of individual students.
- Information to districts on new strategies and developments in ASD.
