Columbia Regional Orthopedic Services (CROS)
CROS is a team of specialists who provide assessment, consultation, staff/family training and equipment for students with severe orthopedic impairments (SOI). The CROS team’s primary focus is to support district staff within the educational setting.
Assistive Technology (AT) Services
Assistive Technology (AT) services help children to access their school environment and curriculum. These services include the following:
- Collaboration to assess technology needs.
- Identification of assistive technology equipment and materials for trial.
- Education Training and education of district staff on assistive technology techniques and devices including software, hardware, and peripherals (low to high tech.)
- Development of assistive technology systems.
- Access to the equipment loan bank.
Augmentative Communication Services
Augmentative Communication (AC) services are available to children who are unable to use speech to communicate or whose speech is difficult to understand. These services include the following:
- Assistance in the assessment of communication abilities and needs.
- Identification of communication equipment and materials for trial.
- Development of communication systems to provide effective interactions across a variety of communication settings.
- Education of district staff regarding augtmentative techniques and strategies.
Mobility and Positioning for Education Access (MPEA) Services
Mobility and Positioning for Education Access (MPEA) provides service to maximize the child’s access to education. These services may include the following:
- Assistance regarding positioning and handling of students.
- Service for motor skill development, function and acquisition.
- Motor equipment for positioning, function and environment adaptation.
- Eligibility materials
- Assistance with determining OI (Orthopedic Impairment) eligibility.
